This value chain covers our Golden Fertilizer Division and Golden Agri Inputs Limited (GAIL). Through this value chain, we are providing a platform for a closer interaction with farmers, providing them with inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, storage solutions, agronomic support and agricultural extension services. We also provide a ready market for their output. In effect, we are providing both sources of inputs and a visible, reliable, consistent and ready platform for their outputs i.e. maize, soy bean, sorghum, cassava, wheat and palm kernel which form the basis of the raw materials for our food, edible oils and animal feeds value chain.
Golden Fertilizer Company Limited was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (FMN) in 1997 with fertilizer blending, distribution and supply as its core business. Today, through the efforts of a skilled and dedicated team, the Golden Fertilizer Company has evolved into one of the leading companies within the agro-allied supply chain in the country.
With a capacity of 450,000MTPA, blending facility in Lagos & Kaduna and a wide distribution network, Golden Fertilizer Company Ltd. has continued to flourish in Nigeria as the farmers’ friend with its flagship brand “Golden Fertilizer” providing an array of blended NPK variants & special blends as required by individuals or corporate customers and an effective distribution network. We are also participating in the Federal Government's Presidential fertilizer initiative which provides fertilizers to farmers at a subsidized rate.
The Golden Fertilizer Company recognizes the role of a robust fertilizer regime for Nigeria’s re-emerging agricultural sector and for the past thirteen years, has remained fully committed to supporting Nigeria’s Agro-Allied industry, with top quality products and services.
Serving the same constituents as our fertilizer business, GAIL offers a platform that will strengthen our positioning as "farmers' friend” in Nigeria and engender a holistic and aligned approach for all stakeholders in the sector.
Our well-defined Backward Integration Programs in Cassava, Sugar, Palm Oil, Soybean and Maize are now all producing local raw materials to supplement our other local procurement and aggregation efforts. In addition to providing extension services to farmers, GAIL is developing outgrower and contract farming schemes for over 50,000 Nigerian farmers while providing a platform to offer high yielding hybrid varieties, access to good agricultural practices and agronomy, aggregation and storage solutions for Nigerian farmers.
We have invested to leverage distribution network for aggregation and collection. This has assured employment for over 600 Nigerians with a multiplier effect of another 10,000 jobs. We have strengthened our focus on aggregation in line with the importance placed on it by the Federal Government with our network of logistics and storage support services provided to outgrowers and contract farmers. This is underpinned by the fact that we believe this initiative is vital to ensuring the company's sustainability and Nigeria's food security in the coming years.
